Auto Iris is a tricky technology. It can lower the black level and raise the on/off contrast. But it cannot improve ANSI contrast and the contrast between mid and high level. The real contrast from the picture depends on both on/off contrast and ANSI contrast. You can't say 5000:1 projector with auto iris has better real contrast than 2000:1 projector without auto iris. It seems ANSI contrast dominate more at the real contrast.
e.g. Sony HS60 has over 5000:1 by dynamic iris after D65 calibration. Mitsubishi HC3000 has only 2000:1 without dynamic iris. But HC3000 shows smooth real contrast (no matter between what luminance level) and more 3D than HS60.
Well, I welcome the manufacturer to apply dynamic iris in the product of LCD and LCOS projectors. It really improve some weaknesses of those display technology. But DLP still hold the strength of the real contrast.
再看这段吧,证明了SONY根本就是在忽悠! |
