Marantz launches '10 Series' reference range
The PM10 amplifier and SA10 disc player replace the 12-year-old Legendary series.
Marantz has announced a new high-end reference range of products, replacing the much-lauded Legendary series that launched 12 years ago.
The new 10 Series has been designed and tuned by Marantz’s long-standing audio guru and brand ambassador Ken Ishiwata and consists of the PM10 integrated amplifier and SA10 CD player and USB DAC.
The PM10 follows the original SC7’s pre-amp topology and packs a full balanced analogue pre-amp stage, with the ability to deliver the same amount of power as the MA9 power amp, offering 200W per channel in 8 ohms.
Marantz tells us it also has channel separated amplifier modules and a dual mono configured power supply, with a separate power supply for the pre-amp and processor.
Alongside a whole host of connectivity for just about any set up, the PM10 features both moving magnet and moving coil phono stages for hooking up a record player. It’ll be available in January for 6500 pounds .
The accompanying SA10 supports CD and SACD discs as well as data discs for high-res audio, with a USB-B port for PCM playback up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD up to a futureproofed 11.2MHz.
Expect high quality audio boards and power supplies as standard, as well as some extended Marantz musical mastering (MMM) software for converting PCM inputs to DSD streams and DSD streams to analogue (which replaces a more traditional D/A converter)
The SA10 will also be available in January for 5500 pounds .
