The output transistors in the output stage are no longer available since 1996.
A complete renovation of both sides on the latest Toshiba for both sides
is extremely complex and it is therefore also not sure that it does not come back to such errors.
That would at us in the company about 600, - Euro plus freight cost - to 800,.
Since such devices this year of construction around 700, - to 1000, - Euro traded hand, I do not advise more.

also mindestens 25 Jahr alt.

Hier noch unser Standardtext für Ger琀攀 diesen Baujahrs :
Die Endtransistoren in der Endstufe sind seit 1996 nicht mehr verfügbar.
Ein kompletter Umbau beider Seiten auf die aktuellen Toshibas für beide Seiten
ist extrem aufwendig und es ist damit auch nicht sicher, das es nicht wieder zu einem solchen Fehler kommt.
Das würde bei uns in der Firma ca. 600,- bis 800,- Euro plus Fracht kosten.
Da solche Ger琀攀 diesen Baujahrs um 700,- bis 1000,- Euro gebraucht gehandelt werden, rate ich davon eher ab.
Solche Ger琀 sind auch defekt noch an Bastler in ebay für ca. 300,- bis 500,- Euro verk甀昀氀椀挀栀.
Wenn sich jemand seine Stunden nicht rechnet, kann er das noch reparieren.

mit PM Trafos.
Die Emitter mit Platine FS 85 wurden von 1985 bis 1990 gefertigt und kostet
damals so 3000,- bis 3500,- DM.
Die werden in ebay usw. so um 600- bis 800,- Euro gehandelt
Um genaueres zu sagen, müsste man schon wissen, welches Baujahr Ihr Emitter
hat-
Ich würde eher empfehlen auch wegen des Risikos mit den Endtransistoren dort
kein Geld mehr reinzustecken,

ASR Emitter serial number
The serial number is in the manual on the first page-
and on a label inside the amp on a heat sink.
You can see this when you turn the unit upside down.
That has been made from about 1998 on.
From end of 2009 the serial number is also engraved on the back of the main unit.
I think the unit he has bought is may be used or is older than 2 years.
You can check also the software date – it is on label under the board with the 2x 8 pole dip switch behind the display board.
Please do not put away the board- if you do you have to care that it is exactly put the 60 pins into the 60 holes !
By pushing the knob at the back during switching the left knob from Off to Stby
The software data is show at the display in the 3 following numbers.
For example : it comes 15 – 05 -10 means 15 May 2010
And after this a display test is running, can be stopped by just switching into OFF
Does it have the golden boards and the new boards in the PSUs- see history ?
You can also make pictures of the open units and send to us- then we can say from when about it is.
But please not larger than 500 kB each picture- compress the pictures or use lower resolution.

The Emitter I will have enough power for your Speaker-
but Emitter II also in basic version has a much more relaxed sound figure.

Tannoy speakers from my experience not so easy to drive, but work well with Emitters
Most customers think from the high efficiency they could be driven with low wattage amps,
Like single ended tubes or overall feedback free designs like Pass.
But that doesn`t work !
Why ? The most chassis Tannoy is using have very big chassis- with big coils and magnets.
They have very complex impedances, means complex crossovers, and high back current-
when the speaker is playing louder.
The sound figure of Tannoy what some people don`t like comes in my opinion oftenly from the amps-
that are not able to drive the speakers and so the sound in quaky.
With the Emitter we had a much more relaxed sound, with good, full voices.
But I have heard Tannoy speakers at some shows,
where the sound was as most people know it- not full not relaxed, with voices like from a megaphone etc.
– I would no like this sound- but I knew better..
from my own experience how good Tannoy can sound ..
But no wonder when I see with what small toy amps they used to drive it !
The tannoy owners most absolutely misunderstands the needs of the tannoy speakers.
they have a good sensitivity- that is true, but very large drivers with very large magnets etc.
This kind of drivers are very complicate to drive, and will not work with single ended amplifiers-
they need amps that can control a huge current- like the Emitter –
and EM II can do that much better than Emitter I.
From that misunderstanding most tannoys I have heard sound not good at private setups
and even at demos at shows - they are using too small amps.
And with them they sounds like trumpets- and have boomy bass
and are annoying after short time.

Upgrade kit for ASR Emitters
We have an upgrade kit for the Emitters available-
Please see the attachment- make the sound more detailed and improves the sound staging,
combined with a very smooth and relaxed sound figure.
The kits will be available about mid of July.
The kit can be implemented in all Emitters from 1997 on,
but the best result we had in units from 2007 on with golden boards.
Also the review units from “Stereoplay” and “LP” Magazine had been tested in the modified version.

I think its sounds more organic. Also it helps the depth and low level detail.
Some would say it sounds soft, but in fact it is more resolved. it takes less of the artificial energy of the upper mid range away and makes it more real. I think it is a nice improvement
sometime high end audio is more like florescent colors, and in real life we have more pastels
The amp now sound more like real life.
I have told others to try it
It is a nice step closed to be able to recreate live music.

From a german customer with a EM II Excl Batt 2012 :
Just absolute TOP, the Emitter can nearly not be recognized again, the sound is as if
heavy velvet curtain had pushed aside.
The stage size is a dream, the bass so deep, the details so clearly - nearly madness.
The Emitter is now in a previously unknown form. in case you present the Emitter in this version to a test in a magazine,
then the editors will be overwhelmed.

Emitter Concept :
The Emitter is not a normal integrated amp, it has no preamp section !
The relay volume control is direct before the input of the main amp section !
Up to a level of 51 the input volume is controlled, at higher levels the gain is controlled.
That means at a level of 51 the signal is not going through the volume control-
The amps works like a normal main amp-
so choose this level for use in surround setups.

If you want an amp, that allows you to listen for a very long time without getting nervous or tired,
the Emitter I think would be good for you ! Cause it is designed for this !
Also the Emitter combines a good control especially in Bass with very high speed, read the French review !
The Emitters are available in 3 versions :
Basic, exclusive and Exclusive with battery,
So you can also maybe buy the Battery later !
Here some info from our FAQ :
The older versions till 2005 are very different from the newer ones, So it will be much to complicate and expensive to upgrade them.
Also by this the older version does not give you an real impression about the sound quality of the newer ones.
The newer ones have much more dynamic, have a much better, deeper soundstage and Are more smoother and relaxing in the same moment.
The Emitter from 2006 on have in difference to the older models :
Main unit :
- a gold plated pcb board since 2007
- brass transistor mounting bar
- new more solid Heat sinks
- the new golden boards for the Elko ( since 2007 )
- and a silver strain relief for the cables from the main unit.
- the new connection cable between PSU and main unit
In the PSU :
- new much larger power supply casing with ASR Logo on top
- built in active filter in the trafo PSU
- the heavy Harting plugs
- complete new designed golden board in the PSU unit ( since 2007 )
- a better fuse in the PSU,
- a better power connection at the PSU with the big 21 amps IEC plug,
- the new improved magic cord power cable,
In the battery unit :
- new much larger power supply casing with ASR Logo on top
- built in active filter in the trafo PSU
- the heavy Harting plugs
- a complete new designed golden board ( since 2007 )

The Emitter I is a very similar construction to Emitter II.
The sound figure is similar- but not the same.
From his huge PSU and Elkos etc the Emitter II is also at very low levels much more powerful, has a better bass response and deeper broader sound stage.
But it has not such a nearly endless power figure and has lower power especially in the low regions.
But in comparison to many other amps of the same price and power rage also the Emitter I is very powerful !
He is sounding a little bit faster - it is more an BMW M3 in comparison to an 7 Liter V8 engine like the Emitter II.
We sold an Emitter II Exclusive Model 2006 to a well know music producer,
that had used an Emitter I Model 2005 for a Quad electrostatic speakers and he is listening with very low level

We got a mail from our Russian importer :
We have got the great review of Emitter II Exclusive in Audio Magazine (#1 Hi-Fi industry magazine here in Russia).
After tests they included Emitter to their Hall of Fame. The Best integrated amplifier they have ever tested.
At the Moscow Show it was a real show-stopper item.
We have got an award "The best amplifier in price range + 10 K EUR.
Being more and less familiar with Emitter, I was absolutely imased with Basis Exclusive.
Our system included ASR Emitter/Basis Exclusive, Tidal Contriva II, Brinkmann Balance Turntable,
Van den Hull Grasshopper III GLA pick up , HB Design cables and NEC CD-903 (circa 1984) cd player.
Pick up was carefully adjusted by Mr. Hull himself, and then he visited our room several times just to listen to the music.
