The Japanese audio specialists debut the 7.1 AVR-3805 and the upgraded AVR-5803.

January 09, 2004 - Denon, the Japanese audio/video component manufacturer best known for its acclaimed AVR line of receivers showed a number of new products at its CES booth.

At $1,200, the 7.1 AVR-3805 receiver (the successor to the AVR-3803) combines ultimate performance with a (relative to its performance) low price point.
Available in black and silver, the AVR-3805 provides seven built-in channels of amplification (120 watts per channel, 8 ohms, 20 -20kHz, <0.05% THD) with 7.1-channel surround decoding for all standard formats, including Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS, DTS 96/24 5.1 for DVD-Video, DTS ES Discrete 6/1, ES Matrix 6.1 and Neo: 6 Cinema & Music modes, as well as the brand-new Dolby Pro Logic IIx (for cinema, music and games).

Using DPL2x, listeners can convert traditional stereo music, game and movie content into a room-filling 6.1- or 7.1-channel listening experience. The system also features Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit floating point DSP processing and Denon&#39s proprietary advanced DDSC-D (Dynamic Discrete Surround Decoder-Digital) circuitry.

Another upgrade over the 3803, the AVR-3805 features auto set-up calibration, higher-performance DSP processors, and a Room EQ feature that makes it easier to match the output to any home theater or music listening environment. When enabled, the feature automatically analyzes and calibrates six settings: speaker connection, phase, size and frequency response. The AVR-3805 adjusts channel level and time delay and, through Room EQ, corrects frequency response with an 8-band parametric equalizer and adjusts to the optimum soundfield. The company also offers an optional calibration microphone for the setup feature.
