影片改编自法国同性恋作家 Pierre Louÿs 的原著小说《比利蒂斯之歌》，1955年在美国成立的第一个女同性恋组织“The Daughters  of Bilitis”的名字即源于此。而大作曲家德彪西曾依据《比利蒂斯之歌》中的一首诗《The Flute》 创作了著名的印象派管弦乐《牧神午后序曲》——

Pierre Louÿs 还有一部小说《阿芙罗狄特》（Aphrodite），极尽笔墨之能事渲染这位古希腊艳妓的万般风情。这也算是法国情色文学的经典之作。

关于原声唱片
这部影片中的主题曲可谓历史上最著名的爱情旋律之一，它由法国电影音乐大师 Francis Lai 创作，是许多乐迷们的最爱。而音乐家提姆•莱斯对这部配乐主旋律非常激赏，特别征得 Francis Lai 的同意，填上了英文歌词，改编成流行歌曲“The Second Time”，由世界音乐剧名伶 Elaine Paige 唱出，成了她的招牌歌曲之一。本片配乐作者 Francis Lai 荣获 1978 年法国恺撒电影奖最佳配乐提名。
